Good morning...let’s get started!

I know everyone has gotten up this morning with Christmas on their minds! Are some of you out there shopping?

I’ll probably look at a few stores online but I don’t like shopping in crowds so I’ll avoid the stores this weekend!

I do have a crafting tip to pass along!

DSCN7824

I walked through Walmart looking for things on my

shopping list and saw this fleece blanket!

DSCN8690

I have bought these before to use as lining in crafts

but this one is the perfect color to make stockings

and all kinds of Christmas crafts! It will work up just like felt!

It was $10 and that’s a LOT of fabric for that price!

And best of all.....Made in America!

DSCN8691

I hope everyone shops Made in America, small businesses and Etsy this year! And we can use what we have! Time to get the ladder down and see what treasures are hiding in the attic!

DSCN8634

This was a thrift store find! I hand washed them in lavender scented soap and they are so sweet! I wish the little dress opened at the top so that I could dress one of my dolls in it, but I think it’s meant to be an ornament!

Enjoy your day!

DSCN8640

What are you excited about today?

Is it time to start decorating?

It’s in the 70s here in Florida....very nice! Come on down!

What nots and rinky dinks!

Most of you know that I have four sons. Well over the years my cute little treasures have been called all kinds of funny names! Most of the time, while they were growing up, I didn’t have many girly things! But the little what knots I had were always a source for jokes!

Study-1

Now I have LOTS of cute little things!

DSCN7873

These shelves are above my crafting desk!

Most everything came from thrift stores or friends!

Those of you who love Elizabeth’s creations at Creative Breathing will recognize this precious peg doll! She is SO creative and her dolls are special!

DSCN7875

And the art above my desk is by Catherine Holman.

DSCN8716

She is one of my absolute favorite Folk artists!

You can visit her blog HERE and her Etsy store HERE!

The Night Sky by Maria Sutton

When the author of this beautiful memoir contacted me and asked me if I would like to read her book and give a review, I was honored. But then I had a few reservations when I began reading. The subtitle is “A Journey From Dachau to Denver and Back” and I wasn’t sure I was ready to make that journey. Over the years I’ve read quite a few books about this time period and it is not always pleasant.

DSCN8693

But once I started the book, I could not put it down. I won’t tell you the details because I hope you will buy this book, read it and be open to the surprise ending.

She searches for a father she’s never met. For years she searches, and as you read, you find yourself hoping for a happy reunion.

Of course when she sets out to solve the mystery of her father’s whereabouts and his life, more mysteries present themselves. My favorite part of the whole book was a mystery that she solved along the way, not involving her father at all.

She brought in the history of this time frame and I think the book was well documented. She traveled around the world and I enjoyed hearing about Poland, Germany and the Ukraine, and seeing the wonderful photos she included in the book. Of course my favorite photo is the one of her Grandmother, Maria Czeczerski taken in Krasne, Ukraine in 1915. It’s featured on the cover of the book. My other favorite photo was on page 193 but I won’t reveal what it is, only that it is a photo from a newspaper article.

I cried reading this book. I even stopped reading when I reached chapter 12. I waited 2 days to read this chapter. It was the ‘rejoicing’ chapter, I think. I sat down one morning to read this chapter and finished the book. When I read the last page, I cried again.

DSCN8697

Thank you, Maria for allowing me the privilege of following you on this journey. You made some important discoveries along the way and many friends and family that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. It’s an important book and very well written. I felt like you were in the room with me, telling me the story.  I enjoyed your book and I know my blog readers will, too.

This book is available from Amazon...click HERE.

You’ll be glad you did!

(I just checked and there are only 16 copies left in stock on Amazon!)

Thank you so much Maria!

~Wishing you a Fairy Tale Day~

Thumbelina by Hans Christian Andersen

DSCN8630

...the flower opened and the woman was surprised to find a tiny maiden sitting inside. She was only a thumb’s length in height and so the woman called her Thumbelina.

DSCN8632

Thumbelina was very happy to be saved by the goldfish.

DSCN8631

They gave Thumbelina a pair of lovely crystal wings to wear.

There was dancing and rejoicing

and they all lived happily ever after.

DSCN8629

All quotes from the book.
